Domain buying fraud

Hello, I just wanted to warn You guys.

I have got an email from a guy that wants to buy my domain. He found my info via whois lookup.
He sent me an email from this address "[email protected]". I asked hime what is his offer, and he responded that his client offers 120,000$ :startle:, but he needs a certificate. First thing that came to my mind, this is some kind of scam. I went to research a little bit, and found many people receiving the same email and offers of 6 figures.

So in the end it all comes to forcing You in buying that certificate. Here is a blog page of all those people discussing: Domain buying fraudscam | Andrius Sunauskas blog

This post might save the time for some of You who are still new to domaining like myself.

So the scammer lies to you and redirects you to his website with "domain verification" to buy for some bucks.
In the end you get nothing and the scammer gets the money you paid for "domain verification" right ?
Anyways thank you for sharing this, some members could fall for this Angemon have a look
Yes, that's it @Ryuzaki . I have already sent emails I have recieved to Angemon last night.

please change your name so we can tag you Ryu :p , thanks for mentioning me , and thanks for the post Aback , but those are well known scammers and no one can fall in that , we're not in 2007 anymore , most of newbies now are smarter and they do search about the topic before investing on it (in this case it's domaining) , unless the newbie is an old man , and most of this type got scammed easily.

You wouldnt believe how many stupid people are there on internet so you cant say no one will fail for that.
Through my own experience people believe many stupid things on internet, even some pure scams

Thanks for the heads up. But honestly, the email address is already a sign that you were dealing with something shady... I feel sorry for what you have experienced, but at least it gave you a lesson that dealing with something similar like this will lead you to nowhere...:)
Yeah, but if proposed amount of money was realistic, say 200-300$, someone would have fallen for this.
